Pilgrim Bible Church holds the Bible as the ultimate authority on matters concerning life and doctrine.  As an aid in summarizing our beliefs we subscribe to both the 1644 London Baptist Confession and the 1689 London Baptist Confession. While only Holy Scripture is infallible, we believe that both of these confessions are a good summarization of the doctrine taught within scripture and best sum up our beliefs.

While the London Baptist Confessions of 1644 and 1689 agree in many points we accept the differences between them as valid variations within the framework of Sovereign Grace doctrine.

The following is a brief summary of what Pilgrim Bible Church believes:

  • We believe in only one true and living God.  God exists as a trinity:  the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant, word of God

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.

  • We believe that all men are lost sinners and must turn to Christ in saving faith and repentance through regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

  • We believe the only atonement for sins is through the shed shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in the Doctrines of Grace.

    • As a result of the fall, man is dead in his trespasses and sin.  He is unable to come to Christ without the drawing force of the Father in Heaven.

    • God has unconditionally elected certain   members of the human race to salvation.

    • Christ's death has secured salvation for each and every elect person.  Christ's death does not make salvation a possibility but a reality for those God has chosen.

    • God will regenerate and sanctify everyone he has chosen.

    • All who are truly born again are preserved by God and persevere through the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved to eternal life with Christ and the lost to eternal punishment in hell.
